Betty Lukens Flannelboards:
The kit is an excellent method of teaching children the Bible. Students are always actively engaged with the story and love to move the colorful figures around on the boards after I tell the story. I found they enjoy retelling the story themselves, after hearing it, immediate feedback for me on my lesson's effectiveness. They love the little sheep when you tell about the lost lamb. They can move David's sling when he defeats the giant. It is so "touchable!"
The kit comes in sheets and all the little pieces have to be cut out one by one. But this makes much more sense and is more economical as well, than buying individual stories. With the kit, you have all the basic pieces you need. I also bought the file system to file all the pieces, as well as extra backgrounds and overlays and the script book. The script book gives a basic retelling for each story, and a simplified picture of the basic pieces needed to tell that story. But, it can be done much more in detail by adding more flannel pieces to flesh out the scenery. With the kit, you have all the scenery you could ever need to tell any story. Especially animals. My kit is still in excellent shape, despite all the hundreds of hands that have held and loved the pieces. I think it is a remarkable and profitable investment in the Bible literacy training of the children that I have taught. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who loves the Bible stories. |
Audio Mixing Tutorial/ Podcasting Part 1
For those interested in Podcasting, Internet, or Music Ministry, this tutorial covers the basics of creating, editing, mixing, and converting a quality sound file in MP3 format. My focus is on beginner level audio producing with the intent to create a file suitable for uploading to a podcast or mp3 player. In the video tutorial, I use Audacity for recording, editing, and mixing and ITunes for File Conversion and Labeling with ID3 tags. More technology tutorials will follow. The next in the series will be on "How to Host an Audio Podcast."
Audacity and ITunes are available for free download at the following websites: Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ITunes: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ |

The other Side of the Tracts:
_ Technology changes how the "commissioned" share the Good News. Tracts are useful, but have limits of cost and reach potential. QR Codes make the possibilities for evangelizing the world limitless!
This is a 16 minute video tutorial on creating and using QR Codes. In the video, I briefly demonstrate what they are and how they are used to communicate information, to link to websites, and to share music and video content in "physical-world hyper-linking." Just imagine what a minister with a vision could do with this tool! |
